With the growing popularity of blogs and the ease of getting links through comments on blogs, did not take long for programmers to reach tools automated link to the explosion packed spam comments to unsuspecting blogs.

Some comments in turn only for his blog, but to me that eliminates one of the great features to make your blog interactive for your visitors. Comments can open a discussion between reader and blogger. Visitors can subscribe to your blog the comments of an inning, getting notified of any new comments, keeping your readers coming back.

To activate Akismet on board your WordPress blog, plugins, then click, scroll down and click Activate next to the Akismet WordPress plugin. After doing this, you will see a box at the top of the dashboard, which says:

Akismet is not active. You must enter your WordPress.com API key to work.

Click the link in the message and then the Akismet Configuration panel will open. You should then see this in the middle of the screen:

Please enter an API key. (Get key.)

On top of this page, click the Register tab, enter your information and if you have a self-organized to choose the blog only a username, please option.

Make sure to use either email address here to get your information User and WordPress API key, click the box to accept legal garbage and click Next.

Check your email and click on the link WordPress confirmation to activate your account. You should then see a page that says "Your account is now Active!" Click on the link connection in the text of that page and access.

You should now be on the WordPress.com site, if so, click the drop down box upper right the page and choose "Edit Profile", now on the World desk.

Within the global dashboard of WordPress now you can see your WordPress API key on the right side of the page. Oh, and now you should have given the API key in an email from WordPress too! But even should edit your profile while you are in the World desk.

Now is the time to put the API key in the WordPress plugin Akismet, go back into your WordPress blog dashboard, click the link in the warning box Akismet WordPress plugin at the top of the dashboard. Paste the WordPress API key in the options box and click update.

If the warning box is not visible check to see if Akismet is activated, click Plugins and seek the status of the extension of the right. You will notice that all plugins activated are highlighted in green. When activated Akismet can be configured by clicking Plugins, and seek the Akismet subpanel (white text on dark blue bar) directly below and right of the main panel menu then.

Keep out unwanted comments while allowing your blog visitors to comment, not only to keep the blog, but clean more interactive and help generate more traffic.
