Google Authorship and SEO

Who cares what people think of Google Plus when simply being there and interacting between your blog and the social network improves your search visibility?

While everyone continues to debate whether or not Google has “won” some social media pissing match (largely perpetuated by users rather than the social networks themselves), people who blog and who understand the power of Google Authorship are banking more rankings and traffic with G+.

Bad Excuses For Ignoring G+ by Content Publishers

My Audience Isn’t on G+

So what?  Your audience uses Google search to find things right?  And being a verified author through your G+ profile, with activity on the network and +1s on your content and posts, gets you more search visibility.  It’s not about G+, it’s about the entire Google network which is tied together by G+.

G+ is A Ghost Town

This has only ever been said by people with no basis for such a claim.  Every time I read a post or article that seeks to label G+ as a ghost town, I check out the author’s G+ profile.  All too predictably, they haven’t gotten into many circles and haven’t circled many people.

Essentially, whether or not any social network is a ghost town depends on the user.  It is never the network’s fault when someone doesn’t use it, or half-heartedly attempts to get set up properly.

Again, there is no excuse whatsoever for a blogger to ignore Google Plus, and they do so at their own peril.
