Asking Other Bloggers for Links

I know this topic borders on the old school reciprocal linking, but I have a purpose for writing this and the main difference, or catalyst in this case, is blogs.

Before marketers even knew what a blog was, bloggers were linking to each other and working with each other to help promote wider discussions from site to site.

There truly is a “blogosphere” out there that is independent of spammy marketing blogs. (Blogs that dummies set up simply to try and trick engines into thinking they are more important and relevant than they actually are, usually with absolutely no value whatsoever to human visitors.)

The trick to getting a lot of voluntary and requested links from real bloggers is to be a real blogger. With a site that another real blogger would be proud to link to. Otherwise, why bother?

The original bloggers are a proud bunch and capable of cutting the e-throat of anyone who uses trackbacks and comment spam on their blogs with efficiency.

The last bastion of asking for a link, when done properly, is probably the blogosphere.

Here are some great tips on asking for a link to your blog from Pro Blogger’s Darren Rowse. Darren is a long-time blogger, a pro blogger, and his site needs to be in your bookmark file near the top.
In fact, the blog above is a great place to frequent when you are looking for more great [tag]blog promotion ideas[/tag]. Just make sure you don’t forget about me, the guy who tipped you off in the first place!

Spread the love
