Are you still “waiting to see?”

The Friday Traffic Report

So I’m playing around with the iPod today and looking through the available video podcasts in iTunes.  Guess what I am not seeing?

Everywhere else on the web and in EVERY other format of delivery from ebooks to audio you can find how-to information.  Except as free audio or video podcasts.  There is virtually nothing on the how-to (fill in the blank) genre at iTunes.com.  Nor will you find much in video.google.com either.  Marketers are totally missing the boat on a targeted traffic and lead generation opportunity that is NOT going to remain this wide-open for long!

Why are people STILL waiting to see as if this podcasting thing is just a fad?

Because marketers have no clue how to implement a podcast campaign to the 6 MILLION (and growing very fast) podcast subscribers out there.

iPods are going down in price and the market is expected to skyrocket to its 60 million user point by 2008.

Where will your marketing be when that happens?  Are you still going to be putting out article and written reports to collect leads and get traffic?  Or are you going to add to the mix your own podcasts of how-to audios or videos?

“It has no bearing on my business.  My visitors are not pod people.”

Oh how sad it will be to watch businesses go down in flames that are run by people sharing that attitude.

The biggest macro market on the web is information.  Where to find it and how to find it easily.  iTunes has made audio and video available to a massive and growing group of podsters but also anyone with a computer.  You don’t have to own an iPod to get podcasts!

That 6 million figure is JUST people with iPods who are grabbing files and watching or listening on their Pods.  The rest are simply using their free iTunes software to get music, audio files of ALL kinds, and videos onto their computers.

The market is, at this very moment, massive!  And if you do not know how to put a podcast on your blog (all a podcast is, is an audio or video loaded on your blog as a post, formatted to be read and understood in the iTunes format), you need to learn right away – like THIS WEEKEND!

If someone walked up to you and said “I want to put you in front of millions of surfers, completely for free, and all I need from you is an audio or video feed once a week on your topic!” what would you say to them?

“Sorry, I have no time to learn new technology?”

or

“I’ve been waiting for a new source of traffic and sales to come along like this!  In fact I’ve been dreaming of someone tapping me on the shoulder and showing me a completely unexploited source of targeted traffic!”

You better say #2.  Because I just tapped you on the shoulder and told you – this is happening right now and the opportunity for the smart marketers who learn to use this simple but powerful technology is utterly incalculable.
