ORION, the latest acquisition for Google, is a search algorithm of a different color.
And it proves that content sites are going to be one of the most preferred type of site on the web in Google’s search.
If not the most preferred, they will certainly be getting the most TRAFFIC of any other kind of site.
Here’s Why…
When asked what ORION does, the creator of the algorithm, Ori Allon, said:
“The results to the query are displayed immediately in the form of expanded text extracts, giving you the relevant information without having to go to the Web site–although you still have that option if you wish.”
So, if people can see more of your site ON Google before making a decision to visit, it stands to reason your content had better be the best it can be if you want their click.
I can’t wait to see what kind of fuss is made from website owners over this. Copyright, “you can’t frame that much of our content on your site” … it should be very interesting.
The least cost alternative to getting caught up in the mess is to deliver killer content people cannot resist reading more about ON YOUR SITE and not Google.
Frankly, I am dying to see how this works when Google puts it into action. Search needs to change on the web and anything is better than staying the course.
If you build sites properly, you have nothing to worry about.
If you are one of the many thousands of people who have bought into many of the scam-spam-schemes-of-the-day for building sites that “trick” Google, you are totally screwed.
And I don’t feel sorry for you.
You see, Google is very smart. They are going to let their users call the shots and I bet anything they will watch closely to see if people start ignoring certain top ranking sites once they see what they are about to visit.
I can’t WAIT to see what they do with the millions of sites that start getting little to no traffic because of the “peek” feature Orion will give Google’s users.
If I were Google, I’d delist those non-performers and clean up my engine.
I can’t help but think that is what is coming.
So if you were thinking about building a content-less direct sales page or squeeze page affiliate site, you’d better think again.
Visitors from Google are going to increasingly be earned by having apparent and actual good content.
Is that not the way the web should be?
